Food & Product photography:

Food & Product photography is an art! Those images that are not created for a customer directly can often be sold as stock images. Knowing the secrets in shooting food & products is very important because it teaches you to be creative and you will generally spend hours and sometimes days in the beginning creating only one perfect image that is outstanding or presentable as you see it. This style of photography can be done during bad weather in studio in the comfort of home and can earn you a living.

Macro (Close Up) Photography:

Macro (Close Up) Photography: It could be bugs, plants or any other subject you desire in the micro world... it can be very interesting and exciting. Oh did I mention macro photography is usually considered art and can sell very well. Most of the best macro photography can be created in studio on a rainy or snowy day that may otherwise be less productive or profitable.

Want to take macro photography to the next level, learn how to incorporate macro and portrait photography together!

Street Photography:

This format of photography is very important because at first it's a great way to practice. Street photography is considered by many to be an art (very marketable) and many photographers that have become famous for their street photos.

Many never show this material because it is different from their main area of photography, it still has a purpose which is to discover, practice, and create or learn your style. Learn different lighting in different situations and how to over come  obstacles. What is in focus, what isn't?

Photojournalism:

In many cases  photographers will work together with a writer on a piece. You can do freelance work for newspapers and magazines. You can incorporate it into street photography and even weddings after all the idea is to tell a story.

Some call it an art, some a style, some form, some call it an area of photography. I say it's yet another way of expanding your skills,  hire ability and revenue. You can be a Photojournalist photographer and never write a single word.

Portrait Photography:

There are many different areas of portrait photography. Some photographers will specialize and excel in just one area and proceed over time to try and be the best in the field while others will pretty much take any style of portrait required.

In this training we will cover many portraits and the differences between one area and the next. Be the best you can be!

Studio Photography:

Studio work can be very boring and or very exciting like any photography it is what you make of it. In the studio you can control partial or all of the lighting and it can yield unparalleled results.

Although it can be expensive to shoot in studio there are many advantages. Learning studio lighting is extremely important even if you never shoot a indoor photo because many of the concepts can be brought into your outdoor photography.

Composition & Posing:

Most photographers struggle with this in the beginning and many for several years. Some photographers share very precise instructions while others offer no guidance. Depending on the subject I'm at one end of the scale or the other. Many photographers capture un-posed  photographs. Some work but most get deleted! This is important part of training because without it you will come back from many photo shoots feeling disappointed with the images you captured. Photos natural & posed all have to look natural or very, very interesting to be captivating. Invest the time to learn this correctly.

Macro (Close Up) Photography:

We will share everything we know and have been taught about weddings. It will include:

  • Getting started
  • Finding or creating your style

  • Dealing with the customers
  • Tips & Tricks
  • Facts & Figures

Dancing, Traffic, Events, Sports Animals no matter the subject if it moves you can shoot it you just need know how. We will show you how to track action shots and how to achieve several different results. We will briefly discuss tips tricks and ideas to improve your images.

Just to name a few job prospects where this can be used besides the obvious would be marketing for a dude ranch, a kids summer camp,  and ski resorts.

Long Exposure Photography:

We will cover all the basics and some advanced tips on achieving very different images without switching locations. Since Landscape photos are one of the three most popular images you may have success selling it's well worth the small investment to get the maximum return on your time and effort.

Painting with light:

Painting with light: This is a very specialized area is true artwork as every image will always produce different results. Some photographers use it briefly when doing landscapes at night but using models and paying subjects or even objects can be very effective, satisfying and profitable too. Many photographers know the basics for painting with light and have some ideas but few have mastered it! Most of the videos I have seen on this subject have not covered the true meaning of painting with light as I was taught.

Painting with flash:

This type of painting with light should be a separate section as it too has tips and tricks that can improve the results. When doing painting with light you are finished as soon as you download the images because you do not do any post processing on this type of image. (What you see is what you get). With flash you pick much larger subject rather than products or people. You can do cars, car lots, landscapes, real estate and much more! This training is a valuable very tool.

Night Photography:

Just as I love doing studio work I also love night photography. Here's why with no light or low light conditions you control 100 % of the lighting and the sky is the limit.

Learn how to photograph city sky lines, landscapes in total darkness, how you can create fantastic portraits that are not the same as what 99% of the photographers take! Also learn how to use almost any light source in you photos.

This training session is a must, you won't regret it!

Advanced Night Photography:

That's right we are going to show you how it's done and explain everything we do in great detail. If you want to land any jobs in any of these types of photography it's highly unlikely you will have success without mastering the ewe and awe shots clients will just tell you that you need more experience.

Astro Photography:

We will discuss the milky way, create star trails and do astro photography. We will cover equipment and basics and we will even take you on a shoot with us. Show samples of what an average person might achieve without buying your own personal hobble telescope. As many people are very into astronomy it could provide a niche market for you. Astro photos art considered art work and highly marketable. Since not everyone has the equipment to do this properly you will have much less competition in this field.

Why Tilt & Shift:

The lenses that are almost never mentioned in photography and maybe one of the professional photographers best kept secrets. Learn what tilt & shift lenses do, how they can help you become a better photographer if you do landscapes, real estate and nature shots. Learn how it can help you stitch together a great panoramic photograph and many other uses for the purchase. The fact is if your camera bag does not include tilt & shift lenses you are not ever going to be the best photographer you can be, you will always miss or distort many images.

Real Estate Photography:

I had a close friend who could produce images that I have yet to see another photographer come close to producing and this is all he did for developers and he was the best there was in his field. Needless to say he made a good living at it. John had an odd eye and the ability to come up with new and creative solutions to challenges that would confront him like no one I had ever met. He was always inventing and re-inventing new results. Every aspect of his photos were perfect from the exposures in reflections, highlights, the main subject and even matching interior & exterior lighting.

Commercial Photography:

This can include almost every form of photography.  It could include photos for videos, TV production, fashion, magazines, newspapers advertising and many other sources.

In photography commercial work means landing some dream jobs which maybe a one time thing, an on going part time thing.

In this training we go over some different commercial work and provide working samples of how you can take your photos and incorporate them into video production to enhance an idea making the video stronger and more valuable.

Photo Art:

Photo Art: Some artists paint photos or combine photos to create something totally different. Some take photos totally different than other photographers producing unbelievable and different results. Some somehow change the look of an image in photoshop.

I will admit I don't know everything but I have a friend who is a photographer and produces these amazing pieces of artwork as a result of her photography. I don't know the process nor how she does it but I would love to encompass & commission her or someone equally qualified to produce these training videos when the time comes.

The Business of photography:

Even if you are a hobbyist, photography is expensive and even with all the joys and personal benefits you must recover at least part of your expenses. This is why many people start doing weddings as a vain attempt to help cover part or all of the costs.

In this training we share tips and tricks of making money from different revenue streams so you can continue to grow and profit as a photographer. Come watch, listen and learn! I can show you ways to expand on your business model sometimes in very unique ways and increase revenue.

Adding Video to your business:

After I got into video, I got far more interested in photography than ever before. Suddenly instead of loving photography and having no way to make money I had thousands of ideas and couldn't see how anyone  wouldn't make money from photography. The answer is not having one revenue stream but creating many revenue streams. By combining video and photography it just makes both services stronger and more marketable.

Let me show you how a video camera  can be your best investment as a photographer.

Making money from photography:

It's important to know is that many of the ways people make good money as a photographer can not be established as a new photographer and many of those ways are not also achievable to the accomplished photographer either.  We will discuss and show you all the ways that you can make money as a photographer even a beginner photographer.

You may choose to follow my path and setup shop or you may choose to only use one or two of my ideas but in either case I'm sure you will make your investment in time and money back from the ideas you use!

Marketing your services: (Getting discovered)

You can be the best photographer on earth but if you want to make any real money and be discovered before your death you need to know where, how and when to market yourself and your work. The how is the most important of the three but all of them are important.

We will show you all the ways we market plus all the ways in which we tried to market. What works and what wastes time and money? Marketing is funny and some can be more damaging than what good marketing can fix so know the difference! Learn what the results of great marketing can do for you!

Advertising & Promotions:

No matter what your marketing skills are you are going to need to do a certain amount of advertising & promotions and it's very important to know the difference between each one.

If your're a small company and doing excessive advertising people will shy away from hiring you because they will figure you must be too expensive because that advertising money has to come from somewhere.

I have an extensive amount of experience within the marketing, advertising and promotions area and this training can be very valuable and save you time money and mistakes.

Getting your work shown

Art Shows and Venues: Getting your work out there! There are right and wrong ways to show and present your work and the learning curve is steep. Some being very important, some creating instant results but making your work worthless at the same time.

What I discuss in this training are ways to show your work and protect it at the same time. How to generate an interest but also make sales... Get paid for your time, investment and effort! As a photographer you have to create a comfortable secure living that is long lasting and sustainable.

Private Lessons and Mentoring:

It goes without saying I offer private lessons and mentoring if the price or trade off is of some value to me. I have even considered a summer camp for learning photography. Of course photography wouldn't be the only thing the summer camp offered but it would be one of the options available to kids of all ages.

For more info on mentoring please visit our help wanted section or view our contact info near the bottom of the page.

Lighting:

Understanding lighting and how to work with it is the most important part of photography. Lighting changes thousands of times per days and in very situation or type of photography. We include the basics in our first 3 training sessions. We also Include tips and tricks on lighting in every module which is aimed at problems you may encounter with each type of photography as you progress and advance.

Post Processing and Retouching:

Get it right in the camera, strive for perfection. Most photographers today can get it right the first time which is what we want to teach you!

Photoshop is a very complex course and it could take years to just to master the basics I've been using the program for over 25 years and in no way feel qualified to teach it. There are courses available but I suggest you spend time learning photography and not post processing.
